Echelon (and on and on...)

From Wikipedia: "The music of the song is composed so as to recall a steam locomotive, beginning in an accelerando and crescendo, and ending in a decrescendo."

Kanye ft. Daft Punk (Grammys 2008)

Refer to 2:45 into the clip for a seminal mind-blowing Daft Punk cameo, complete with requisite neon electric pyramid.

One of my favorite music videos in recent memory. There's something inscrutably cool about seeing a talented performer manipulating the sequencer like a virtuoso. (See: Daft Punk)

Incredibly, this is a fan-assembled clip.

The Remix to Ignition

At 1:46 in the video below, R Kelly is apparently holding a lit cigar & burner flip cellphone in one hand.

Ignition (Remix) was released in 2003. Every American person knows it and loves it.

Jay's Mix - 4/25/13

A feminist downtempo emo mixtape.

Fun fact: Ani DiFranco & Mike Doughty attended the same poetry class taught by Sekou Sundiata in NY.

Rock Out With My Puck Out

The LA Kings are in the Stanley Cup Final and I can't believe I just typed that. Seriously, this season has been a long, labored effort. They looked left for dead, but somehow peaked at the right time and flew into the playoffs under the radar and have been kicking ass and taking names. And that says nothing about the past two seasons of playoff woes and the long drought before that. It's been a long time coming.

Speaking of long time coming, we've got a week layoff between games. I decided to put together a playlist to remind me of the wins and pump me up even more for the cup. So, enjoy the clips below and comment or tweet me with your suggestions.

Two new Tumblrs I've learned of today. Enjoy.

Parks & Meth

Parks and Rec quotes against Breaking Bad screen grabs.

Kanye'd by the Bell

Kanye lyrics against Saved by the Bell grabs.

Deaf as in Dope!

Insane Clown Posse - Leck Mich Im Arsch by Third Man Records

I apologize for the recent glut of ICP posts, but Jack White is involved for some reason. Detroit really has little to offer the rest of the country.

Madvillain - Strange Ways (Jean-Yves Blanc)

Some fantastic entries in this fan-made Stones Throw video contest.

My favorite by far was this claymation "Strange Ways" clip. The level of detail is stunning, and I encourage all to check out more of the artist's work at

Gathering of the Juggalos, Revisited

It's that time of year again. This year's lady-journo-gonzo-stoner is Deadspin's Emma Carmichael.

I have not listened to any ICP since my last blog post about Gathering 2010. Charlie Sheen was there, but so was Ice Cube (!)

More Hunter S. Thompson-esque gonzo blogging can be found in Daulerio's excellent Xbox LSD no-hitter story. Deadspin circa 2011 feels very edgy & anti-mainstream right now.
